Acting Courses

ACTING FILM SCHOOL  - September 28, 2010 to April 31, 2011
Offered by the Utah Film School to both Youth and Adults

The Full Year course is especially for aspiring actors. Students will learn valuable skills and knowledge in the whole concept of Acting for the Camera and Filmmaking. The course is designed to increase students confidence, knowledge of casting, callback auditions, filmmaking, professionalism, tools of the trade, scene study, technique for TV acting and Film acting. They will learn from industry professionals such as Film Directors, Producers, Screenwriters, Casting Directors and Agents. They will also use their newly acquired skills to create an end of year short film that each student will participate in. The Utah Film School is dedicated to offering quality education to further students' careers as a professional Actor through learning all aspects of film acting and film production.
The course covers subjects on:

 

  • Auditions/Callbacks
  • The Business of an Actor
  • Tools of the Trade
  • Choosing an Agent
  • Screen Actors Guild (SAG - actors union)
  • Film Acting and Technique
  • TV Acting
  • Scene Study
  • Improvisation
  • Film Language & Etiquette
  • Expectations of a Director
  • Film Crew & their roles

Classes are held every Tuesday beginning September 28, 2010 and ends on April 26th, 2011
This is 6 months of instruction over the duration of the standard school year 
 
Youth Classes are from 5pm to 6.30pm - Tuition fee: $80 per month
Adult classes are from 7pm to 9pm - Tuition fee: $100 per month

VOICE-OVER Workshop
Taught by Linda Bearman 
 

The Commercial Voice-Over workshop is a very intense weekend instruction designed for beginning performers. Participants will receive insight and tools that will upgrade and enhance their current level of performance abilities. Curriculum covers:

  • Television vs. Radio
  • Identifying personal "voice prints"
  • Audition and Job Preparation
  • Attitudes and Interpretive Skills (breaking down the copy)
  • Bringing the copy to "Life"
  • Monologue vs. Dialogue
  • Trends, Styles and Demos
 
Workshop Date: Friday October 22, 6pm to 9pm and Saturday October 23, 2010, 10am to 4pm
